The impact of "neuromuscular" mouthguards on athletic performance has caused a lot of excitement and Dr. Clayton A. Chan is one to thank. Dr. Chan, Founder and Executive Director of Occlusion Connections, and the originator of the Chan-Optimized Bite, is pleased to partner with Triumphant Athletics Group ("TAG") to introduce the AgilityGuardâ„¢ family of products developed for athletes, sportsmen and fitness enthusiasts.

Dr. Chan is a general dentist, clinician, teacher, educator and leader. He is considered by many to be the authority on Neuromuscular Occlusion and its application to Clinical Dentistry. Dr. Chan's training and experience as a dental laboratory technician, along with training in the areas of Gnathologics, TMD, Orthodontics and Neuromuscular Occlusion, has helped him convey a unique three-fold clinical message to thousands of dentists, specialists and dental leaders nationally and internationally.

Dr. Chan is noted for his foundational concepts in Dental Occlusion, Bite Management and Bite Transfer techniques, applying both the Gnathological principles with the fundamentals of Neuromuscular Dentistry. He is the author of many articles on Neuromuscular Dentistry and Dental Occlusion.

As former Director of Neuromuscular Dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute (2001-2006), he developed Neuromuscular Occlusion programs with his mentors, Dr. Robert Jankelson and Dr. James Garry. In addition to the basic Neuromuscular Occlusion programs, he also developed the TMD, Scan Interpretation and a continuum of Orthodontic courses which were well received by hundreds of clinicians, propelling the Neuromuscular concepts to another level of awareness in North America and abroad.

Dr. Chan is the Founder of Occlusion Connections, Executive Director of the Clinical NM Research Group, holds Mastership status with the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopaedics, is a founding member of the Appliance Therapy Group and a member of several other dental organizations.

Dr. Chan's unrivaled expertise and experience have been acknowledged by other dentists who seek him out for help and guidance in Neuromuscular Occlusion and its application in Clinical Dentistry.

Dr. Chan has developed a series of proper training and certification courses for dentists and other dental professionals who wish to learn how to correctly fit a Chan-Optimized Bite to provide their clients with optimal athletic performance. Dr. Chan also established a number of Regional Traning Centers across North America to support Chan-Certified dentists through continuing education and hands-on practice.
